What is Churn?

The rate at which customers or users stop using a product or cancel their subscription over a period of time.

Product onboarding

Churn explained

Churn is the mirror image of retention. Poor onboarding is a common cause: users who never reach value in their first days are much more likely to leave.

Improving activation, in-app guidance and customer education are some of the most direct ways SaaS companies reduce early churn.

Example: If 200 of 4,000 customers cancel in a quarter, quarterly churn is 5%.
