What is Activation rate?

The percentage of new users who reach the action that best predicts they will keep using a product.

Product onboarding Analytics & metrics

Activation rate explained

The activation event differs by product: inviting a teammate, connecting a data source or publishing a first project. Teams find it by comparing what retained users did early on with what churned users did.

Activation rate is the headline metric for product onboarding. Every onboarding flow, checklist and message should help more users reach it, faster.

Example: If 1,000 people sign up and 320 connect a data source in their first week, the activation rate is 32%.
