This is an estimate. Results depend on your data and on how well the programme is run. See our adoption metrics guide to measure real impact.
How the calculation works
- Ticket savings = tickets per month × 12 × reduction % × cost per ticket.
- Onboarding savings = new hires × days saved × daily loaded cost.
- ROI = (total benefit − total cost) ÷ total cost.
- Payback = total cost ÷ (total benefit ÷ 12), in months.
Frequently asked questions
How is digital adoption ROI calculated?
ROI compares the annual value of the improvements a digital adoption programme delivers, such as support tickets avoided and faster onboarding, with its total annual cost. ROI = (annual benefit − annual cost) ÷ annual cost.
What inputs should I use?
Use your own data where possible: monthly how-to tickets from your service desk, your cost per ticket, new hires per year and a realistic estimate of onboarding days saved. Start with conservative improvement percentages.
Does this include all benefits?
No. It focuses on two measurable benefits. Others, such as better data quality, fewer process errors and higher licence utilisation, are real but harder to quantify, so treat the result as a conservative estimate.
