What is User segmentation (targeting)?

Grouping users by attributes or behaviour so that each group sees the guidance, messages or onboarding most relevant to them.

User segmentation explained

Segments can be based on role, department, region, language, plan, sign-up date or actions taken. In-app guidance is far more effective when it is targeted: a finance approver and a sales rep need different help.

Good segmentation depends on clean user data being passed to your adoption tool, usually from your identity provider, CRM or product database.
