What is Tooltip (smart tip)?

A small message attached to a specific button or field that explains what it does or what to enter.

Tooltips give short, contextual explanations without interrupting the user. They usually appear on hover or when a user reaches a particular field. Some platforms call them smart tips, hints or beacons.

Tooltips are ideal for explaining field rules, such as the format of a date or which picklist value to choose, and are often used to improve data quality.
